The Derby litter of 2006 was so named as they were conceived during the running of the Kentucky Derby and born during the Canadian National Specialty. The undisputed star of the litter is Ch. Counterpoint Genuine Risk. "Jill's" record as of the end of April 2008 includes: BISS Rocky Mtn Whippet Assc of Alberta (judge Sue Baddick), BISS Whippet Club of Canada National (judge Goran Bodegard of Sweden). Jill has been awarded 4 All-Breed BIS, 16 Group Firsts, 13 Groups 2nds, 7 Group Thirds, 9 Group Fourths, 20 Puppy Groups and 3 Puppy Shows.
Ch. Counterpoint Winning Colors
We kept the bitch, Colors, from that litter. She is the most orally-fixated dog we have ever owned. What other dog would go out to the garage, and come back in, proudly carrying a clothes iron? She is quirky, but very endearing.
Counterpoint Sir Barton
We also kept the pick male, Counterpoint Sir Barton. Because one of our older bitches was having medical problems causing her to be in heat every three months, and other medical conditions could not allow spaying (she wouldn't have survived the surgery), in order to keep our sanity, Bart had to be neutered, without ever seeing the show ring. However, virility was never a problem with him, and before he was neutered, at 10 months he sired (accidental breeding) our latest litter.
